Current and Future Projects

None of our projects could happen without the time and dedicated effort of FASM volunteers. If you’re interested in joining us to help reclaim our local history, please contact us. FASM needs your energy!

Current Projects

  • The second-floor office and library are nearly complete.
  • The Museum’s exterior will be painted this year, as soon as the weather permits. Greg Knight of Alfred will be doing the painting. This project will be funded in part by a grant from the Davis Family Foundation.

Past Projects

The Historical Video Project is complete. Simple Gifts: The Shaker Community of Alfred, Maine premiered on May 17, 2014 on the museum’s opening day. View the trailer for the video here.

FASM began the 2013 season with a new wood floor in the Museum’s Morrison Community Room. The building crew was hard at work at the end of January, nailing down the wide pine boards. They completed the work and refinished the floor in time for the Museum’s Open House on Maple Sunday (March 24, 2013).

For FASM, this was a milestone, signifying completion of the major work on the first floor. Most of the work was funded by grants and in-kind contributions in the form of volunteer labor.
