Class on the Shakers and Museum Field Trip

Lloyd & Sue Hunt are instructors in a two-session course at the Senior College in Saco on October 14 & 21. The first session will be a lecture on the history of the Shakers in America. The second will be a full-day trip to the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland to view the special exhibit, “The Shakers: from Mount Lebanon to the World.” The field trip will be led by Dr. Cynthia Mowles.

The course fee includes admission to the museum. Car pooling will be arranged for the museum trip. Cost is $50. There is a fee of $25.00 to join the Senior College, and the course cost is $25. Location: McArthur Library, Biddeford. Day/Time 9:30-11:30 AM October 14 at McArthur; 8 AM – all day October 21. Starts: Tuesday, October 14. Class size: min 12/ max 20.

Yard Sale Items Wanted!

From FASM President Barbara Carlson…

The Alfred Shaker Museum is putting out a request to all of our friends and neighbors within a 20-mile radius for items for our tag sale at “Apple Fest” on Saturday and Sunday, September 13 & 14, at the Museum on Shaker Hill. If you call my house or have my cell, a truck will be sent to pick up your items, or you can leave them at the museum. We will give you a tax donation form if requested… All monies raised go toward the upkeep and development of the Museum. Thank you very much!!!!

Win a Lobster Feast!

The Alfred Shaker Museum is currently running a Lobster Raffle — and who doesn’t love fresh local seafood?!

The lucky winner will receive 5 lobster and some #5 steamers, donated by LaFlamme’s Lobster and Seafood of Arundel, ME.

You can get your tickets from any FASM member, or stop in at the Museum when it’s open.

Drawing will be held on September 14, 2014. You do not need to be present to win!

Museum Hours:

Museum Hours: 1 PM – 4 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and by appointment.

Closing for the season on November 11.

Admission: Free. Donations are gratefully accepted.

We are dog-friendly. Well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome in our building.
