“Simple Gifts” Festival, July 21

SafariScreenSnapz0052013 marks the 165th anniversary of the song “Simple Gifts,” which was written by Elder Joseph Brackett of the Alfred Shakers. To celebrate this milestone, violinist/composer Andy Happel and FASM present the First Annual “Simple Gifts” Music Festival on Sunday, July 21 at the Museum. The Festival includes a public jam session for interested musicians, plus a Twilight Concert.

The public “Pick-Along” starts at 4 PM. Musicians wishing to join in the “Pick-Along” can find a list of the repertoire, links to sheet music, and other information at andyhappel.com.

The Twilight Concert begins at 5:30 PM. The public is invited to attend. Please bring your own lawn chairs. Sunscreen, bug spray, and snacks are suggested.

Here’s a video of Andy playing “Simple Gifts” for the WCSH program “207”.
